Hyderabad: Eyeing 2019 elections, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is set to showcase his government’s vision and comprehensive development of Telangana in the next five years in the 2018-19 budget proposals to be presented in the budget session of the Assembly in March.

Apart from presenting ‘100 per cent’ welfare-oriented budget by according top priority to well-being of all sections of people, the budget will unfold KCR ‘s vision and comprehensive development of Telangana in the next five years (2019 -2024). Top officials of the state government told The Hans India that KCR would lay emphasis on the five-year development plan in the budget.

The Chief Minister already instructed state Advisor (Finance) GR Reddy and State Planning and Finance Department to prepare ‘Vision 2024 Document’ with an objective to achieve ‘Bangaru (Golden) Telangana’.

The vision document concentrates mainly on “Agriculture and allied sectors, economy, governance, Industry and IT, Infrastructure, regional development, social sector (health), social sector (education), social sector (skills) and social sector (welfare)”. The vision document set sector-wise targets.

Based on recommendations pertaining to the vision document by the officials, the chief minister will include some issues mainly related to education, agriculture, health, irrigation and employment in the budget proposals.

The issues will be finalised only after the meeting with officials of all government departments. Sources said that KCR is also planning to present a detailed note analysing the development, particularly in the welfare sector, that had taken place in his four-year rule in the budget proposals.

Meanwhile, the chief minister held meeting with Finance department on Saturday to finalise allocations to various departments. All departments have already submitted proposals to the Finance Department and requested increase of allocations by at least 20 per cent in the new financial year to meet the demands.
