The accused, J Srinivas Rao had barged into the house of Ch Devi on January 30 when she was alone and robbed her.

He chose the house in his locality, Sriram Nagar in Yousufguda. After sprinkling Chilli powder on her face, the 22-year-old took away her gold chain weighing two tolas.

The police identified him with the help of surveillance camera footage collected from the surroundings of the house.

Srinivas Rao even mortgaged the gold in a private financial firm. According to the police, he was addicted to a lavish lifestyle and chose this route to make easy money.
