Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had failed in filling even 10 per cent of total vacancies in various departments.

Uttam Kumar Reddy flagged off the ‘Nirudyoga Chaitanya Yatra,’ along with All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary R C Khuntia at Gandhi Bhavan. Uttam said there were 1.07 lakh vacancies at the time of Telangana formation.

Nearly 60,000 to 70,000 employees have retired in the last three-and-a-half years. Therefore, there are nearly two lakh vacancies in various government departments and corporations. But, the TRS government filled only 7,000 posts through State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) which is less than 10 per cent of the total vacancies.

Uttam Kumar said Telangana became a reality due to the struggle and sacrifices of students and youth. However, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had been misleading the jobless youth on filling up of vacancies and creation of new jobs. He alleged that nearly 5,000 factories have closed during the last four years which rendered thousands of people jobless.

The TPCC chief alleged that Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister K T Rama Rao was wasting public money on his foreign tours. “While Rama Rao is posing for pictures in "suit-boot", his foreign tours did not benefit Telangana State in any manner,” he added.

Uttam Kumar also slammed the TRS government for not filling vacant posts of teachers. He claimed that the previous Congress government had appointed nearly 12,000 teachers. However, he said the K Chandrashekar Rao government had failed to appoint a single teacher in its regime. He said not a single DSC was conducted since the formation of Telangana.

AICC Secretary R C Khuntia, TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Telangana Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, former MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav, GHCC Minorities department chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.

The ‘Nirudyoga Chaitanya Yatra’ will cover all 119 Assembly segments in the next 45 days. Uttam Kumar Reddy advised State Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav to conduct meetings in all Assembly segments.
