Hyderabad: The just-concluded All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) plenary has exposed the schism among the Muslim religious leaders. There seems to be a sharp divergence among the AIMPLB leaders on how to address the vexed Ayodhya question.

Core Committee member Moulana Salman Nadvi, who strongly advocated an out of court settlement on Ayodhya issue, has announced that he was quitting the AIMPLB as he was not given an opportunity to explain his position. Nadvi met Art of Living Guru Sri Sri Ravisankar and had said that the Babri Masjid can be shifted elsewhere as per shariyat to resolve the issue. Skipping his Saturday outing at the plenary held in Hyderabad on Saturday, he met Guru Ravisankar on the same day.

On Day 2 Nadvi attended the plenary and had to face slogans and jeers. However, he said the Ayodhya issue was being politicized, due to which the issue was getting complicated. He strongly favoured an out of the court settlement of the issue. To the shock of many, Maulana Rashid Madani and Maulana Mohmood Madani backed him.

Nadvi also announced the formation of another board which would be guided by the true spirit of Shariyat. On Sunday, AIMPLB declaration, announced to the media by Maulana Khalid Saifullah, Jafaryab Jilani, Umrain Mahfouz, Dr Asma Zahira, Yaseen Osmani, Rahimuddin and Asaduddin Owaisi, said that Babri Masjid would remain a masjid till eternity and that there was no question of agreeing to shifting it.
