The lack of coordination between officials and ruling party members in the Khammam Municipal Corporation is becoming a curse to the people.
Khammam: The lack of coordination between officials and ruling party members in the Khammam Municipal Corporation is becoming a curse to the people.
The ruling members of the Corporation have alleged that the officials were adopting their own agenda instead of following the resolutions made by them and were not paying bills for the works that were completed, as a result, contractors were not coming forward to take up further works.
They also alleged that the officials were not conducting review meetings every fortnight to discuss developmental activities, due to which many developmental works were lagging behind under the Corporation limits.
Rama Swamy, a senior citizen of Khanapur Haveli said, “The State government is investing crores of rupees for the development of Khammam city. But due to lack of coordination between officials and ruling members, the development is lagging behind.”
Echoing a similar view, CPI city secretary S K Jani Miya alleged that due to irresponsibility of Corporation officials and ruling members, there was no development in many divisions. The people thought that there would be enormous development after the formation of Corporation, but to their disappointment, they are facing problems due to lack of basic amenities in many divisions.
Even many are facing issues in getting local, caste, Date of Birth and other important certificates, he said. CPM district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao said the restoration of Lakkaram lake and the development of tank bund was not the development of entire of Khammam city.
Many problems pertaining to nearly 50 divisions present under Corporation limits including the villages remained unsolved. By showing the development of Mamata Road and the localities of MP and Minister, the ruling party leaders are trying to deceive people, he alleged.
A Venkateshwarlu, a resident of Srinivasnagar said people were paying tax to the Corporation. At least by investing that funds, the officials must take up developmental activities of road laying and supplying of pure drinking water.
The people living in Gollapaduchanal are living in miserable conditions. Many are falling sick due to mosquito and pig menace. There is a need to develop such areas, he added.Meanwhile, district president of Municipal Corporation Contractors Association (MCCA) P Venkateshwarlu alleged that the Corporation officials have not been sanctioning bills for the last three months, due to which many small contractors were facing lot of problems.
“In protest against Corporation officials, we are stopping the services of tractors lifting garbage and water tankers under KMC from February 14, until the KMC releases the pending bills,” he added.
