Warns of action if permission is not granted within 21 days of receiving application
Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Monday said the government was considering imposing penalties on the Town Planning officials, who did not give permission within 21 days of receiving application for building permission. The Minister was speaking at the meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and Town Planning officials from across the State at the Institute of Engineering here on Monday.

The Minister said after the formation of Telangana, people expected a new type of administration from the government. The government had also been moving forward with several reforms, he said, adding that the government was seriously considering penalising the officials who did not give permission within 21 days of receiving application on the lines of TS-iPASS.

The Minister said as part of the several reforms, the State government had brought unified rules. To provide all permissions to citizens with transparency and without any problems, the State government had brought DPMS (Development Permission Management System) and decreased the time limit of giving permission from 30 days to 21 days.

The officials would have to explain to the citizens regarding the missing documents and other information if any within seven days of application.

“The new system is brought with an intention to decease the delay in permissions,” he added. He called up on the Town Planning officials to get aware of the new system and get good name to the government.

The Minister said for disciplined governance, the role of Town and Country planning officials was prominent, particularly in road widening and curbing unauthorised constructions in the newly-formed districts. He asked the officials to work in coordination with the Municipal Commissioners to save open plots in municipalities.

He asked the officials to speed up the LRS scheme. He also asked them to utilise technology in their work.
