Hyderabad: BJP MLA and Legislature Party leader in the State Assembly G Kishan Reddy alleged that Osmania University was falling into disgrace during its centenary year with the State government running the administration of the university as a de facto authority.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, he said lack of teaching staff made the university unable to maintain educational standards and the university finances were in doldrums. “Retired employees of the university are not able to get their pensions on time. Pension accounts of those retired in the last three years are not finalised. The university has to meet the pension disbursements from its block grants,” he said.

“The Congress, during its rule, started several universities like Palamuru, Nalgonda and the like without even providing basic amenities. People of the State expected that their fate will change after the formation of Telangana. However, the State government has not taken any measures to improve their conditions,” he pointed out.

Similarly, the government could not appoint teachers through the DSC, resulting in several government schools running without teachers and newly-started model schools lacking amenities.Kishan Reddy said the State government had washed its hands in procuring agriculture produce and was throwing the blame on the Centre. The TRS government which had promised to make agriculture as a festival had been so negligent that it was not aware of the output of red gram in the State, he said.
