Hyderabad: Enthusiasm and eagerness prevailed at the first meeting of the Praja Chaitanya Yatra, being launched by the Congress to expose the TRS government, on Monday in Chevella. Congress leaders seemed to have been excited as there was an impressive turnout of party workers and supporters and they were attentive till the end of the meeting.

The first meeting of the Yatra which was supposed to start at 1 pm from Chevella was delayed by about two hours. Though most of the important leaders including leader of Opposition in Assembly K Jana Reddy reached the venue in advance, the bus carrying TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy reached there at 3 pm.

The party leaders of Ranga Reddy and Vikarabad districts mobilized workers and the party supporters in big numbers. The small town of Chevella was packed with vehicles of Congress workers. The police had a tough time dealing with the flow of vehicles. The place of the meeting was jam-packed as all seats were occupied. As many as 10,000 chairs were provided to them under the canopies. Most of the audience stood behind the seats as the chairs were not available.

Apart from an impressive gathering, the attention of the audience made the leaders happier. The workers and supporters started to arrive from 11 am and continued to stay at the meeting till 5.30 pm. Surprisingly, no one left the venue till the end of the meeting. The dais which was arranged for about 90 was filled and many leaders stood on it. In the front row, two leaders sat on one chair. Though the organisers wanted many leaders to leave the dais, they did not heed to their advice.

Digital screens were set up on the dais and at middle of the meeting place allowing the workers to watch the leaders clearly. As the climate was not so hot, the audience remained at the venue for hours together patiently. The audience cheered the speakers whenever they attacked the Chief Minister and his family members directly. Speeches of leaders like Mohammad Shabbir Ali, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, A Revanth Reddy and V Hanumantha Rao seemed to have excited them more.

The roads leading to Chevella from Hyderabad and Vikarabad directions were decorated with party banners and buntings. Hundreds of leaders put up posters with photos of their favorite leaders. At several villages on the route to Chevella, party workers waited on the roadside to watch the Bus Yatra. Fire crackers were burst when the bus reached the venue.
