Hyderabad: To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, the Hyderabad City police will organise a series of events including ‘She Teams 10K Run’ from March 3 to 4. The events are aimed to create awareness on women safety and cybercrimes.

The events will include 10K, 5K, 2K Run and Women’s Expo at the Peoples Plaza, Necklace Road. The interested candidates are directed to register themselves on www.eventsnow.com/events/8936-she-teams-10k-run-2018. The registration fees are Rs 500 for 10K, Rs 300 for 5K and Rs 200 for 2K, excluding gateway charges. Though, the school and college students are exempted from payment.

Addressing the press in a curtain-raiser event, Director General of Police (DGP) K Mahender Reddy said, “She Teams are ensuring safety and security of women. Programmes like 10K run will instill confidence in women to report crimes against them. He added, “People of all ages irrespective of age and gender should participate in the events to make Hyderabad a crime free city.” Women’s Expo will showcase exhibits on women safety, welfare and development issues and it will be inaugurated by Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy, he stated.

The DGP launched posters, T-shirts, and medals of the event, on Tuesday, along with other police officials including She Teams in-charge Swati Lakra. Film and sports celebrities including Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Devarakonda and Olympic gold medalist PV Sindhu will take part in the run, DGP said.The registered candidates can collect a T-shirt and a medal at the counters on March 3.
