Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy said on Wednesday that voting for TRS in next elections will be like voting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a public meeting at Zaheerabad on the third day of Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra, Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the BJP government at the Centre for incidents of atrocities on Minorities. Referring to the incident of murder of Akhlaq Ahmed, he said under the Modi rule, the country has been witnessing harassment of Minorities which was never seen in the past.

The TPCC chief accused KCR of doing 'chamchagiri' (sycophancy) to PM Modi. "Whatever PM Modi does, KCR supports him. He was the first CM to support demonetisation. During discussion on GST Bill in Assembly, he prevented us from criticising Modi. While PM Modi is harassing Minorities, KCR is supporting him in all his moves," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy asked as to why KCR shivered while meeting PM Modi. "Is it due to fear, respect or something else" he asked. He said while all Chief Ministers are fighting with the Centre for a fair share to their States, KCR and TRS MPs were silent and they never spoke against Modi. He said only the Congress party could ensure security and development of Minorities in India.

Therefore, he said voting for TRS would be like voting for BJP and it would be a vote against Muslim community itself. He said Congress president Rahul Gandhi is all set to become the next Prime Minister of India and people should defeat KCR, if they wanted to remove Modi.

Uttam Kumar Reddy reminded people about a famous perception that whenever Geetha Reddy won the election, Congress party came to power. However, he said while Geetha Reddy won as MLA in 2014, the Congress party lost elections in Telangana State. But in 2019, he said both Geetha Reddy and Congress party would win election.

Earlier in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with other Congress leaders, visited Bobbili village of Sadashivpet of Sangareddy district to meet the wife of a cotton farmer, Tallari Srisailam, who had committed suicide due to debts.

They gave financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the widow and conveyed their sympathies. Senior Congress leaders, including R C Khuntia, Shabbir Ali, Komatireddy Venkatreddy, former captain of Indian Cricket Team Md Azharuddin and other leaders also addressed the meeting.
