Telangana State Intermediate Board Examination (TSBIE) Secretary Dr A Ashok said the total number of candidates from the general and vocation streams registered for the second year examination was 4,39,422. Out of them, 4,21,333 candidates had given their examination at 1,294 centers across the 31 districts in the State.

He said about 18,089 students were absent for the examination, making it 4.11 per cent of the total registered candidates.

Ashok said students were given SET 'A' question papers for the examination. Observers sent from the Board visited Vikarabad, Ranga Reddy, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Jangaon, Yadadri, and Hyderabad districts. A total of 20 cases of malpractice were registered against the students.

The highest number of mal-practice cases were registered in Yadadri district with11 cases, followed by Nalgonda with three and Vikarabad with two. One case each from Rajanna Sircilla, Badradri Kotthagudem, Mahbubnagar and Medchal districts were registered.

Meanwhile, tension prevailed at few of the examination centers in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, when students were denied permission, to enter the examination centers because of arriving late for one to five minutes.

The officials from the examination centres had called up the District Intermediate Examination officials to ask, whether they could allow students who had come just one minute late. However, as the instructions from the Board were clear, “We could not allow anyone even when they arrived even one minute over 9 am," a senior Board official from the Ranga Reddy district said.
