Telangana state unit Congress President N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Saturday announced that the party is all set to launch a programme, Dalitula kosam Congress (Congress for Dalits) shortly to reach out to Dalits in the state.

Addressing a meeting of Telangana Congress Committees Scheduled Caste department, Uttam Kumar urged the party activists to strive for taking Congress closer to the Dalit community under the programme.

Directing the party workers to finalise the details of the proposed programme, he said that TRS party made tall promises to Dalits and Scheduled Tribes during the 2014 Assembly elections but so far Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has failed to fulfil the promises including providing three acres of land to poor Dalit families and providing 12 percent reservation for STs.

He stated that Congress would raise the issues including three acres of land and others in the Budget session of state Legislative Assembly beginning March 1.
