Hyderabad: The State secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Tammineni Veerabhadram said Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party were not an alternative to the ruling TRS in the State.

He spoke to media on Wednesday after taking part in the 2K run orgnised by the party, asking people to make the 22nd National Congress of the party to be held in the city from April 18-22 a grand success.

He said the policies pursued by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance at the Centre and the TRS in the State have been devastating the lives of common people in the country and the State.

“Modi’s rule has instigated communal passions among different sections of people. In Telangana, the KCR has been following dictatorial policies of suppression,” Tammineni accused.

He said that both the BJP and Congress were supporting the same economic policies. Despite Congress being in opposition, it has failed to provide an alternative to people of the country. Similarly, in Telangana, the TRS government has been using force to suppress peoples’ movements and expression of dissent.

Tammineni added that the TRS government had not only tried to create obstacles in the way of party’s Mahajana Padayatra, but it had also removed Dharna Chowk to suppress peoples’ democratic rights. Charging the government further, he said the TRS government has adopted a similar policy of suppression in the legislature to do away with the opposition parties from the State Assembly, he said.

It was against this backdrop that the national congress meetings of the party will be coming up with an action plan to provide a direction to the country and to retaliate the dictatorial policies of governance in Telangana.

He appealed to the people to make the meetings a grand success by extending their cooperation. From March 26, the party will launch two buses in which the cultural groups will go around the State seeking the support of the people to make the national meetings of the party a success.
