Hyderabad: Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday held an emergency meeting with party leaders and discussed the political developments taking place post the expulsion of two Congress MLAs from the House.

It may be noted here that Telangana Assembly Secretary V Narasimha Charyulu already issued a gazette notifying that the Alampur (SC-reserved) and Nalgonda (General) Assembly constituencies have fallen vacant after the expulsion of Congress legislators – SA Sampath Kumar and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy respectively. The gazette was also forwarded to Election Commission of India (ECI), which is the authority to conduct by-election in the two Assembly segments.

The pink party leaders said KCR had analysed party’s winning prospects in the bypolls to the two Assembly constituencies which are considered as citadels of opposition Congress party. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and CLP leader K Jana Reddy both hail from Nalgonda, whereas S Jaipal Reddy and DK Aruna are from Mahbubnagar district.

The bypolls will be a prestige for the ruling TRS and for the Congress ahead of 2019 general elections. According to ruling party leaders though the pink party was not strong enough in the two districts, it however managed to strengthen its leadership in the recent months, and the party supremo wanted to wrest power from the Congress in by-election.

In this regard, KCR entrusted the job to Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and IT Minister KT Rama Rao, who recently toured the two districts. The Ministers duo will submit a report on the developmental works taken place in the last four years in the two constituencies and also status on pending programmes in consultation with the local TRS leaders. TRS in-charge of Nalongda K Bhupal Reddy was also directed to take up party programmes in the constituency.

The possibility of the conduct of TRS Formation Day on April 27 in old Nalgonda district was also discussed. However, final decision will be taken in April second week depending on the political developments and Election Commission’s decision on the by-election.
