Hyderabad: The introduction of KCR Kits scheme has increased the deliveries in government hospitals from 31% to 50%.

Replying to a question raised by TRS MLA G. Sunitha during Question House in Legislative Assembly on Monday, Health Minister Dr. Lakshma Reddy said that so far 4,441,554 women benefitted with KCR Kit schem by receiving financial benefits as per scheduled tranches of ANC, Delivery and Immunization.

In order to cater the current patient load, the minister said 1,597 Medical Officers and 1,561 staff nurses have been recruited under National Health Mission. More than 10,000 posts have been created this year by the State Government to be filled on regular basis. Telangana State Public Service Commission and Department Selection Committees are recruiting these posts.

He said standardisation of labour rooms has been taken up this year and so far, 231 labour rooms have been upgraded. Intensive training programmes are being conducted under DAKSHATA and so far 903 doctors have been trained.

Further, the minister said Midwifery course has been introduced for better maternity services from October 2017 and 30 staff nurses are under training. A total of 241 Ammavodi (102) Vehicles have been introduced to pickup and drop back the pregnant women at the time of ANC, delivery and immunization. As many as 12 New MCH Centres have been sanctioned, he said.
