New Delhi: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated that the proposed Third Front by Chief Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrashekar Rao would remain a non-starter or at least irrelevant as the TRS was not going to win any seat in the next election.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi on Monday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Chandrashekar Rao had been chanting the ‘Third Front’ mantra to divert people's attention from the failures of his government in Telangana State. He said Chandrashekar Rao was afraid of facing people as his government did not nothing for any section of the society during the last four years.

Instead of being accountable, he said, Chandrashekar Rao had initiated the talk of forming ‘Third Front’. He said Rao’s visit to Kolkata and his meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was a political gimmick to escape from the wrath of common people.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said Rao had failed to fulfil a single major electoral promise that he made to the people. Therefore, he said, the Chief Minister was running the budget session as a formality and visiting Kolkata while the session was on. He said Chandrashekar Rao had hurt the sanctity of legislature and illegally suspended all members of the Congress for the entire session and expelled two MLAs in an undemocratic manner. He said the Congress would approach the people and expose all failures of the TRS government.

Meanwhile, Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder Manda Krishna Madiga visited the AICC headquarters on Monday and met AICC secretary R C Khuntia, Uttam Kumar Reddy, former PCC president V Hanumantha Rao, expelled MLA A Sampath Kumar and other leaders. Speaking to media persons later, Khuntia said the Congress was serious on the issue of SC categorisation. He also demanded a CBI probe into the attack on MRPS chief.

Khuntia asked Chandrashekar Rao to clarify his stand on the BJP government at the Centre. He said Rao should make it clear whether he was against the NDA or part of it. He said Chandrashekar Rao’s proposed Third Front was only aimed at benefitting the Modi government in the next elections.

He advised Rao to first fulfil all promises that he had made to the people of Telangana before thinking about people of the entire country. Meanwhile, Sampath Kumar expressed confidence that the expelled MLAs would get justice from the court.
