Khammam: The ongoing Budget Session that sans major Opposition Congress is a mockery of democracy, Congress Legislature Party Deputy Leader Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy said, equating it with that of self-government day observed in schools. Speaking to media persons here on Saturday, he said the TRS government led by K Chandrashekar Rao has imposed an undeclared dictatorial rule in the State.
Referring to the Khammam issues, Reddy demanded that the Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) authorities draw a summer contingency plan to tackle the acute drinking water problem faced by the people in the city. He also demanded the authorities to focus on sanitation with which the denizens are facing hardships.
He sought the officials to focus on dumping yard issue, which has become thorn in the flesh of people living in the region. He demanded the officials to adopt safe methods in disposing the municipal solid waste as the smoke emanated from the dumping yard is posing health hazards.
“Those affected by modernisation of Gollapadu Channel be given double bedroom houses,” Reddy demanded.
Launching a scathing attack against Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, he alleged that the MLA joined the ruling TRS only to gain benefit of around 11,000 square yards of prime land.
The ruling party leaders are in a hurry to gobble the funds, Reddy said, referring to the poor quality of works in Lakkaram tank development and beautification.“AICC President Rahul Gandhi had said that parajumpers will not get seats in the next general elections and those with the party will be preferred,” Reddy said.
In another programme, Reddy inaugurated a chalivendram set up by Darla Shankar and Malleshwari in the 38th Division of KMC. Congress Minority State convener Md Fazal, TPCC Secretary Katla Ranga Rao, Manohar Naidu, Shankar, Ramu, Gopi and Vinod Chowdary were among others present.
