TRS to back 'No Confidence Motion' against BJP Govt
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Monday announced that it would support the \'No Confidence Motion\' moved by opposition parties against the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.
Hyderabad : Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Monday announced that it would support the 'No Confidence Motion' moved by opposition parties against the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.
The decision was taken during a meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan today. The meeting, chaired by Telangana Chief Minister and TRS Chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, was attended by all TRS MPs and other important leaders. KCR has reportedly asked his party MPs to continue their agitation in the Parliament over 'One Nation, One Reservation' issue. However, he asked them to extend full cooperation to the other opposition parties in 'No Confidence Motion'. He urged them to pressurise the Centre to divulge the powers to decide reservation quota to States.
Speaking to media persons later, TRS Secretary General and Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao dismissed the allegations that the TRS MPs were not allowing the Parliament to function to sabotage the 'No Trust' move of TDP and YSRCP. He clarified that the TRS was not defending BJP Government and it should not be blamed for disrupting the proceedings of Lok Sabha. He said that the TRS would not create any obstacles in presentation of 'No Confidence Motion'. However, he said that the party was raising the most important issue and demanding the Centre to authorise the States to decide the reservation quota for various communities in proportionate to their population.
Keshava Rao said when States like Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra could be allowed to cross 50% ceiling, then why other States like Telangana were being prevented from increasing quota for various communities. He said that the law should be equal for all States. He said that the TRS MPs would continue their agitation in Parliament by holding placards at their seats and they would not storm into the well of the House.
Lok Sabha MP Jithender Reddy said that the BJP Government took no decision on the reservation issue during the last four year and therefore, TRS MPs have been agitating on the issue much before other parties came up with the plan to a 'No Trust Motion'.
Speaking on the issue, Kavitha slammed the Centre for not honouring the promises made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and said that the Central Government should grant Special Category Status to AP.
