Hyderabad: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday said the total solar energy capacity in the State was 3,282.67 MWs. The Minister in a written reply to the Legislative Assembly gave the details of the solar projects in the State.

The projects include JNNSM (RPSSGP) with capacity of 4.75 MW, NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (PPAs Combined AP)-49.81 MW, competitive bidding- 2012 -162 MWs, open offer -2013 individual generators 12 (130MW), individual generators under solar park-31 was 189.5 MW, competitive bidding-2014 513 MWs, competitive bidding 2015 -1,700.90 MW, NTPC bundled power 2016-400 MWs, solar roof top under net metering 26.92 MW.

In another question, the Minister said Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) was fulfilling all the assurances made to its workers. He said most of them were statutory and SCCL was extending more than these benefits.

With regard to coal mines, the Minister listed out strategies including- opening of 13 new mines (six underground and seven opencast) in the coming years, enhance the capacity of underground mines enhanced by introducing bulk production technologies like continuous miner and long wall, converting the underground mines into open cast mines where amicable reserves for underground mining are exhausted.

The Minister said expansion of existing open cast mines were planned to enhance production capacity wherever feasible. He said that ministry of coal was requested for allocation of coal blocks outside Telangana to further increase the production capacity.
