The number of missing cases being registered at various police stations in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district has been increasing day-by-day.
Kothagudem: The number of missing cases being registered at various police stations in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district has been increasing day-by-day.
With many agency areas in the district, several tribals are going missing. Since they are illiterate, the tribals depend on labour work and they migrate to neighbouring states and other places in search of work.
A few people will go on their own while some others depend on contractors or mediators to find a job. After getting the job, several people are missing, due to various reasons like dying in accidents. The contractors or mediators fail to inform the death news to the family members of the deceased.
The year 2017 had witnessed large number of tribal women missing in the district. These missing women are mainly in the age group of 19 to 25 years and 26 to 40 years.
As per the records, 101 cases of missing women in the age group of 19 to 25 years were registered. Of these, only 63 women were traced. As many as 40 women, aged between 26-40 years, were missing and 23 were found out.
Three tribal men, aged between 15 – 18 years were missing and one was successfully trace dout. 14 missing cases of men, in the age group of 19-25 years, were registered and eight persons were found out.
22 cases of missing men, aged between 26-40 years were registered and 11 were found out. While of the nine missing cases of men between 41-60 years, three were found out and six missing cases of men aged above 61 years were registered and two persons were traced out.
The Sub-Divisional Police Officer observed that most of the tribal people were trapped by the mediators. The villagers and tribal people will easily become pray to the mediators’ attractive words and follow them to the work places. There are chances for these people to go missing for several reasons.
The mediators or contractors are neglecting to inform the family members of the missing persons. The police officer apealed that people not to believe unknown persons, who promises to provide jobs.
