Hyderabad: The Congress decided to step up campaign against the government during the second phase of Praja Chaitanya Bus Yatra. The second phase of the yatra will start on April 1 from Ramagundam of Peddapalli district.

The yatra will focus on the expulsion of two Congress MLAs from the Assembly and suspension of party members from the activities of both the houses of the legislature from the budget session. The second phase will take off after a gap of 20-day following the end of first phase. The first phase of the tour was launched on February 26 and continued till March 9. The yatra was given a break with the budget sessions of the Assembly in view.

The second phase of the yatra will continue till May 15 and a public meeting would be held on June 2, Telangana Formation Day and All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi is expected to participate in the meeting.

The Congress claimed that the first phase of the tour was a success as people have attended in large numbers to the public meetings organised as part of the Bus Yatra. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, CLP leader in Assembly K Jana Reddy, CLP leader in Council Shabbir Ali, working president M Bhatti Vikramarka, MLAs Revanth Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and other leaders addressed the meetings.

Seething with anger against the government for the expulsion of its MLAs from the Assembly and suspension of party MLAs and MLCs, the Congress wants to use the second phase to expose the government’s attitude towards the Opposition parties. The party leaders have been alleging that the government had been behaving in a dictatorial way and expelled and suspended the MLAs and MLCs from the legislature with a fear of criticism.

They would explain what happened in the joint session of the Legislature on March 12 and also tell people how the government twisted the facts and expelled the MLAs and suspended the members against the rules.

The recent Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on the fudging of accounts books by the government would also be discussed. Party working president Bhatti Vikramarka said that they would take the issue into the people and would explain them how the government had been indulging in irregularities.

Congress would explain the people about the unfulfilled promises of the government. It would explain the allocations made in the budgets and amounts being spent.
