Home Guard’s humanitarian act goes viral

Hyderabad: A touching video that shows a Home Guard feeding an abandoned old woman went viral on social media on Sunday. The woman, who has nine children including five daughters, was abandoned by her children and forced to beg to earn her livelihood.

However, the Home Guard, who saw the frail old woman lying down helplessly on the wayside for the past three days, was moved by the sight and decided to play the Good Samaritan. Once he realised that none of her kin was in a mood to help her, bought some food and fed her, much to her relief.

The senior citizen, Bhuchamma, has been surviving by seeking alms from passersby and motorists near Kukatpally signal for a considerable time. For the past few days, she was not feeling well and was unable to seek alms.

Gopal, the Home Guard, seeing her plight for three days while driving the traffic recovery van, was hopeful that someone would come for her rescue, but realised she was left alone.
