TJAC Chief exposes chinks in govt armour

​Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Monday alleged that aspirations of people were not fulfilled by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government and hence the TJAC had to come up with a political party. Prof M Kodandaram said that his party Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) would go alone in the elections.

The TJAC Chairman announced launch of Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) amidst the leaders of the Joint Action Committee here on Monday. Kodandaram said that many had sacrificed their lives for separate State. They thought there would be self respect but their aspirations were not fulfilled and no section was getting benefitted, he alleged.

The TJAC Chairman alleged that there was no respect towards democratic values in the State as the Chief Minister conducts review meetings of different departments without the presence of the Ministers. “Institutions are completely disregarded. The cabinet has no meaning at all. He is the only Chief Minister who doesn’t come to Secretariat. The CMO is not accessible to general public, that is the situation which we are witnessing here,” alleged Kodandaram.

Kodandaram further said, “We noticed certain number of problems during the last four years. The State government had been ignorant towards the aspirations of people. During the course of the movement, every citizen of the State irrespective of age, gender and caste participated to realise the dream of separate State. They would be able to live in self respect, dignity and the resources would be equitably distributed among all. Everyone thought Telangana would become a strong democratic State.

Democratic norms are violated with impunity. There are no spaces available in Hyderabad to take up any democratic activity. Section 144 is used to deny democratic protest.” The JAC leader pointed out, the recent CAG report said that power purchases were beyond requirement and at a high price. He alleged that land mafia controls the administration.

Kodandaram said the JAC realised that one cannot ensure change unless and until the people see a fundamental shift in politics and the way politicians operate. “We eventually realised the demand for a major shift in politics is not appropriately expressed by any major political party and eventually decided form a party,” said Kodandaram.

The JAC Chief said that TJS party would organise public meeting on April 29, which would be the formal launch. The TJS flag would come out on April 4. “We have been holding discussions with artists, painters and others to bring out flag of the party. We have also asked people to give their suggestions. We consulted and prepared our constitution. We should strive to ensure the implementation of the constitution in accordance with ideals and philosophy of Ambedkar. We thought State could get social justice,” said Kodandaram.

Kodandaram said that lot of exercise had taken place during the last two months. The party would form committees after the public meeting on April 29. The party would go to the elections independently.

The JAC would be JAC and party would be outside the JAC, he added. There is a need for change in the rule and not in the rulers. He said that there were many leaders from TRS who were looking at TJS.

Leaders including K Dileep, G Venkat Reddy, G Vidhyadhar Reddy, G Innaiah, Akula Srinivas and others were also present.
