Security ramped up at Uppal stadium ahead of IPL matches
With the Indian Premier League-11 Edition T-20 matches scheduled to be held from April 9, bandobust arrangements are being made in co-ordination with various wings. A total of 2,500 police personnel to be deployed at Uppal Cricket Stadium as part of bandobust for the matches which will conclude on May 19.
Hyderabad: With the Indian Premier League-11 Edition T-20 matches scheduled to be held from April 9, bandobust arrangements are being made in co-ordination with various wings. A total of 2,500 police personnel to be deployed at Uppal Cricket Stadium as part of bandobust for the matches which will conclude on May 19.
As part of the arrangements, 250 security men, 329 traffic cops, 1,038 law and order policemen, six platoons of armed forces, Octopus, mounted police and other staff and five fire tenders with fire fighting squad will be engaged. In and around the stadium, a total of 100 CCTV cameras are being installed, including the places at vehicle check points and parking lots, to cover the entire area.
A Joint Command & Control room is also established at South Ground Floor to monitor all the CCTV footages for taking immediate action. Besides this, anti-sabotage checks would continue round-the-clock until the matches are concluded.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat informed that effective communication system was being maintained with the allocation of VHF (Very High Frequency) sets to every Sub-Inspector and above his rank, for quick response.Also, a control room was set up. The scanners installed at the stadium will allow police and other security personnel to detect explosives and other prohibited material inside the venue. The bomb disposal team and sniffer dogs would be pressed into service to ensure safety in the stadium and parking place.
Check posts were set up at all the entry points of stadium to carry out anti-sabotage check and frisking of persons. An escort vehicle of law and order is being arranged along with escort vehicle of City Security Wing. A Road Clearance Party, specifically for route clearance was spared for congestion-free entry and exit of the players and VIPs, VVIPs into the stadium.
“Separate teams are being deployed for checking the movements of anti-social elements. Additional bandobust arrangements made in and around the stadium round-the-clock with Octopus and NGS teams. Mounted Police force are deployed at gate No’s-1, 3,4, 7 & 8 for effective bandobust,” said the Commissioner.
The IPL-11 Edition T-20 Matches will start from April 9 and conclude on May 19 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal. The stadium has approximately 38,000 seating capacity. “In order to avoid any untoward incidents during the match days, a series of unprecedented measures were taken up at Uppal cricket stadium for the smooth run of IPL-matches,” added the Commissioner.
A separate SHE Teams team has been established in order to control eve teasing against woman and also keep close watch on the movement of cheer girls. A separate vendor supervising teams is established to control the vendors and their rates as prescribed by the authorities.
