Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy yet again affirmed his stand of quitting politics if the ruling TRS comes to power in 2019 Assembly elections in the State.

Warangal: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy yet again affirmed his stand of quitting politics if the ruling TRS comes to power in 2019 Assembly elections in the State.

The fresh assertion came in the backdrop of a challenge thrown by IT Minister K T Rama Rao to the TPCC President during a public meeting at Miryalaguda on Thursday where the Minister said Uttam Kumar Reddy failed respond to his past challenge properly.

Addressing a massive public meeting held as part of Prajachaitanya Bus Yatra at Angadi grounds at Parkal in Warangal rural district, the TPCC chief said he would accept KTR’s challenge and give up politics if the TRS comes to power in Telangana in 2019.

Uttam Kumar Reddy shot back at the Minister Rama Rao asking him whether he would walk out of public life if Congress assumes power in 2019, sticking to his stand he maintained when the Minister thrown a similar challenge to him in this February.

He went on add ‘Congress party’s victory seems imminent given the positive response to Prajachaitanya Bus Yatra’ while referring public turnout for Parkal meeting. TRS party was deceiving people by making false promises and they were tired of listening to the ruling party rhetoric, he noted.

He appealed people to teach the TRS a fitting lesson in the upcoming elections while saying the public response to Congress yatra was a morale booster to face the elections confidently whenever they were conducted, whether this December or in next year.

Even the CAG report charged TRS government of cheating people by twisting the budget figures. Yet the ruling party leaders were shamelessly boasting of creating a Bangaru Telangana.

The Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family were not for Bangaru Telangana but were busy making amassing wealth. The CM family was exploiting the State for their own benefit undermining the desires of the people. After Congress comes to power we would cough up their ill-gotten gains, he warned.

Later, at KDC Grounds in Hanamkonda the party staged a show of strength by organising an impressive public meeting. Uttam Kumar Reddy along with a host of leaders of the party accused TRS government of unlawfully expelling and suspending Congress legislators from Assembly budget session.

It was undemocratic to conduct Assembly sessions without the main opposition leaders in the House. The CM and his family members were getting six per cent commission from the contractors executing Mission Bhagiratha and ongoing major irrigation projects, he alleged.

Congress would soon have its own newspaper and television channel and till then, the party cadre have to make use of social media to reach out to people exposing corrupt and misrule of the State government, the TPCC chief said.

Congress, if voted to power would ensure every agriculture produce gets a minimum of Rs 2,000 per quintal. Rs 2,000 per quintal for paddy, Rs 6,000 per quintal for cotton would be offered along with waiving crop loans to the tune of Rs 2 lakh at a time, Uttam Kumar Reddy promised.
