Four women bikers Shilpa Balakrishnan, Piya Bahadur, Shanti Susan and Jai Bharathi successfully completed a 16,992-km long road trip covering six Southeast Asian countries starting from Hyderabad.

The women, supported by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) and Government of India in this initiative began their 17,000-kilometre road trip, 'Road to Mekong' from Hyderabad on February 11. They covered Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Bangladesh with an objective to promote Telangana tourism and road trips in India.

Having travelled fifteen states in India and six Southeast Asian countries, the women were welcomed by the Telangana Tourism Department in Hyderabad on Monday.

The four riders, who rode Bajaj Dominar bikes, visited 19 UNESCO World Heritage sites across the seven countries. Their travel was backed by Telangana Tourism with a team accompanied by a four-member production crew to document the entire expedition. A mini couch with two drivers was also provided to promote Telangana tourism.

Stating that they wanted to promote women empowerment, the four women said that they also wanted to make the country proud of their achievement.
