Nizamabad: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Tuesday extended his support to the Federal Front proposed by the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Participating in a press conference along with Nizamabad MP Kavitha and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao at Nizamabad MP Office, Baba Ramdev said that the TRS government was really striving for the benefit of farmers and providing all the required inputs to help them survive on their own.

Stating that KCR was the number one CM in the country who has been laying his focus on growth of farmers, Ramdev said allocation of 40 per cent budget for agriculture sector and giving attention to irrigation sector proves KCR’s commitment towards farmers uplift.

Extending his support for setting up of Turmeric Board, Baba Ramdev, who is on a three-day visit to the district, said that he would also participate in the proposed agitation in New Delhi by MP K Kavitha soon. Patanjali group would set up a food processing unit in Lakkampally to process turmeric, sweet corn, maize, sweet lemon, Bengal gram, aloe vera and other crops within a year of the State government clearing the proposal, he said, adding that the group’s turnover now was Rs 12,000 crore per annum, with only Unilever ahead of it.

“Patanjali will overtake Unilever within a year. We would also be making a foray into dairy and textile sectors soon,” he said. Ramdev also informed that their organisation was working to stop imports of turmeric crop from other countries and increase exports from India, and suggested that all governments should take appropriate action to strengthen turmeric farmers.

Nizamabad (Rural) MLA Bajireddi Goverdhan, Nizamabad (Urban) MLA Bigala Ganesh Gupta, Armoor MLA A Jeevan Reddy, RED co-chairman S A Aleen and MLC V G Goud were present at the press conference.
