Hyderabad: The National Security Guards (NSG) should effectively handle the challenges that were posed by terrorist groups stressed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at the inauguration ceremony of ‘28 Special Composite Group (SCG) Complex’ of National Security Guard , Ibrahimpatnam on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajnath recounted the efforts and said, “Terrorism is posing new challenges through social media too, and security forces need to strengthen their technical and tactical capabilities to counter these challenges.” He also said NSG was better than best security forces, and expressed confidence that the force would counter any challenge efficiently and effectively. Singh congratulated the 16-member NSG team which would attempt to scale Mount Everest in 2019.

Earlier, Sudeep Lakhtakia, Director General of NSG, the elite counter-terror force, said “The NSG hub at Hyderabad has four States, which includes Chattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, under its purview. In collaboration with State government, we would like to strengthen the forces with joint training ventures like warfare jungle school.”

From the current location, the commandos can reach any location in Hyderabad, in emergency situations, in less than an hour. The commandos can reach Shamshabad Airport, a 33 km stretch, in 44 minutes, from where they can fly to the other problematic zones under their purview, said Pramod Phalnikar, Inspector General of NSG, Hyderabad hub.

The NSG Hyderabad Hub has moved to new campus, from Trimulgherry, which was built on 200 acres. The constructions were undertaken by Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in 2013 at a cost of Rs 157.84 crore. The new hub is an eco-friendly campus with water harvesting plants, drip irrigation, solar power plant.

Governor ESL Narasimhan, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy and several other senior police officials were present on the occasion.
