Congress eyes on settlers vote-bank in Hyderabad

​Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said that the party would give tickets to Seemandhra people who settled in Hyderabad for contesting to the Assembly in next elections.

In an informal chat with the media, Uttam said that they have separate strategy for facing elections in Hyderabad and added that the party leaders were in touch with Seemandhra people, who settled in Hyderabad.

Stating that the Seemandhra people, whose anger against the Congress has come down off late, were backing the party, the TPCC chief informed that the party high command has also endorsed the proposal of giving tickets to Seemandhra people. “They are quite angry with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

He further stated that they would field strong candidates against the MIM,which, he said, has a tacit understanding with the BJP. “Several strong minority leaders have been looking towards Congress,” he said.

Predicting that party would sweep the next polls in the north Telangana region and would win all seats in old Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts, he made it clear that the response to the party was immense in north Telangana too.

Speaking on possible alliances in the next elections, he said that there mightjoin hands with Telugu Desam in Telangana. The Telugu Desam has a strong vote bank in some pockets of Hyderabad. However, the high command would decide about the alliances, he added.

“Several leaders of other parties are in touch with Congress and soon some more would join,” he said, adding that the high command would decide on the Padayatras of party leaders Ponnam Prabhakar, Revanth Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Stating that several leaders who have joined Telangana Rashtra Samithi wanted to return to Congress, Uttam made it clear that contestants who got party ticket should be ready to wage a strong fight against the ruling TRS.

Demanding that the observations being made by Comptroller and Auditor General of India against the State government should be taken seriously, the TPCC chiefaddedthat the CAG had pointed out that the government indulged in an economic offence.

Clearing air on party tickets, Uttamadded no one has said that the presidents of District Congress Committees and septuagenarians would be denied party posts, instead the high command suggested that the youth should be encouraged.
