Hyderabad: Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy instructed the Commissioners and Superintendent of Police to allow medical emergencies on the top priority despite VVIP movement. The move comes after the Information Technology and Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao took to Twitter and requested the same.

On Thursday morning, a Twitterati posted a newspaper clipping on Twitter, an online news and social networking site, which describes the agony of an accident victim who was not allowed to go to the hospital due to KTR’s movement in that route.

Immediately, responding to the tweet, KTR posted “I certainly hope it’s not true because that’s never been my way of working – If it’s true, my sincere apologies to the gentleman (a namaskar sign) and I also request @TelanganaDGP to ensure that instructions are passed on to policemen so this is not repeated anywhere”.

Later in the day, the DGP responded to the Minster’s tweet and replied, “Sir, instructions have been given to all the CPs and SPs of the districts to allow medical emergencies on priority despite VVIP/VIP movement”, the DGP also tagged the complainant Shiva in the post.

However, there have been allegations that the police overreacting in bandobast duties and providing green channel facility to VIPs, though they were not eligible for the provision.
