Hyderabad: Formation of federal front mooted by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is gaining momentum. The crucial meeting held between KCR and former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader HD Deve Gowda has decided to prepare a national agenda focusing on the plights of farmers, rural masses and women.

The TRS supremo called on the former PM at the latter’s residence in Bengaluru and held talks for more than two hours. In the meeting, Deve Gowda stressed the need to rope in all like- minded political forces in the task to prepare programmes that would help in amelioration of the living standards of the poor by addressing the long-pending issues of minimum support price to the farmers, jobs to rural masses and safety for women.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the JD(S) leader said that he welcomed KCR’s efforts to the formation of an alternative to BJP and Congress. However, the objective of the front is not to throw anybody out of their seat. He asserted the front will be programme-based which is to remove hurdles faced by people in the country.

“We want to find permanent solutions for all the problems facing the country,” he said, pointing out that since KCR has taken some steps towards this direction, those interested could join the movement. KCR said that the purpose of the front is to take up a movement in the country and bring a qualitative change in politics. BJP and Congress have ruined the country as they did not have any delivery mechanism.

People gave opportunity to the two parties to rule the country but failed. People were coming onto the streets because of the BJP and Congress’ inaction and their inability in addressing the issues during their dispensations. “The front will have a large agenda for farmers before 2019 election. We will put the agenda before the nation and anybody can join the movement in the interest of the nation,” he said.
