Hyderabad: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) has been directed to constitute 10 squads to conduct raids on private corporate junior colleges, academies and coaching centres conducting classes for intermediate courses.

Directions to this effect have come from Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Friday to the TSBIE Secretary DrA Ashok. Responding to the complaints of running of classes for Intermediate course, Srihari said, “Directions of the government is clear that no college should conduct classes to the students during the summer vacation.Anyone found violating would face scrapping their affiliations.”

Adding further, he said that following representations made by parents, the government had given exemption only to run classes for NEET and JEE preparation. He asked the TSBIE to form 10 squads to carry out raids in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal and if needed to cease the colleges, coaching centres and academies found violating the norms. “We will not hesitate to even cancel their affiliations,”Kadiyamadded.

Stating that the State government has been giving top priority to protect the interest of students, the Deputy CM said the summer holidays were meant to let students take off from their academic activity.
Also, steps have been taken to address the issues of lack of recreation facilities, proper infrastructure in hostels attached to private junior colleges and other issues.

Accordingly, guidelines were issued as well as notices were slapped against several colleges asking for explanations following the shortcomings found during the raids conducted by the Board officials, he said. However, the private school management's had made a representation asking for certain relaxations in the norms notified by the government in regard to running hostels affiliated to their colleges. And, we will look into the same, but, the main objective is to ensure that students interests are protected, he added.
