KCR under Congress fire for skipping Ambedkar fete

​Hyderabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Saturday criticised that the Chief Minister did not have time to pay tributes to architect of Constitution of India Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Addressing the media, along with former Minister D Sridhar Babu, he demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister for insulting the Dalit icon and father of Constitution BR Ambedkar by not attending the 127th birth anniversary celebrations.

He said that while the entire nation paid tributes to Ambedkar, the TRS chief who usurped power by announcing Dalit as first CM of Telangana, was cosily sitting in his plush office. KCR should apologies to the nation as he failed even to pay floral tributes to Ambedkar statue and also did not to attend a seminar organised on this occasion in the State capital.

Shabbir said that Ambedkar had proposed reservations not just for SC and ST but also for BCs and Muslims so that all communities could grow at equal pace in the country.

Muslims could have got reservation if some sections of the society have not opposed. KCR did not bother to attend and pay tributes on the anniversaries of national leaders like Babu Jagjivan Ram on April 5, Mahatma Jyothi Rao Phule on April 11, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on November 11, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on November 14.

“KCR had broken the tradition of celebration and paying tributes to national heroes and this portrays his arrogant nature,” Shabbir said.

Speaking on KCR's proposal to form a third front against Congress and the BJP, the LOP said that both KCR and Deve Gowda were known for their political opportunism.
