The Minister was addressing a meeting of the TRSV, the students’ wing of the party, which was visiting the Kaleshwaram project on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday called upon students to make the people aware of the government programmes including the irrigation projects being taken up by TRS in the State. The Minister was addressing a meeting of the TRSV, the students’ wing of the party, which was visiting the Kaleshwaram project on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Irrigation Minister flagged off the TRSV group which consisted all the 31 districts and 119 Constituency presidents at Telangana Bhavan. Harish Rao said the Kaleshwaram project would provide water to 37 lakh acres and it could cater to the needs of the 60 per cent of the people of the State. He recalled that the Central water commission too had appreciated the speedy works of the Kaleshwaram project. Stating that students had played important role in the Telangana agitation, he said the student’s community should take responsibility of explaining to the people about the development activities in the State.

“Whatever project taken up by Chief Minister KCR, it has been an inspiration to the country. We are going to start ‘Rythu Bandhu’ soon. Baba Ramdev too had appreciated the Chief Minister for his service to the farmers,” said Harish Rao. It was the TRS government which gave 24-hour power supply to the farmers of the State, he added.

The Minister said with the irrigation project, the water level would increase, and fish breeding activity would be improved. Harish Rao further said the Mission Bhagiratha was another important scheme of the government and added that till now 72 km pipelines were laid in the State. It is a great scheme to provide water to every household, he added.
