Hyderabad : Chief Secretary Dr S K Joshi asked the officials to identify suitable lands within one week in their respective GPS and municipalities for raising nurseries as part of the Haritha Haram programme.

During the course of a review meeting on Haritha Haram action plan and raising of nurseries with Forest, Panchayat Raj and Municipal officials at the secretariat today, he said that 12,751 GPS and 142 ULBs should have nurseries as desired by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. The nursery should be feature of village. He also discussed about water availability, source of funds, species and required staff for raising nurseries in detail.

Dr Joshi asked the officials to submit details lands, species as well as the infrastructure requirements for raising nurseries. He asked the forest officials to prepare printing and audio visual material for training of the staff on importance of raising nurseries, plantation. He instructed the panchayat raj and municipal officials to identify one person from respective gram panchayats and local bodies for training as resource person along with gram panchayat secretaries. He also stressed the need to set up one nursery in every urban park. Krishna, OSD, Urban Forestry MA&UD was appointed to oversee the Haritha Haram programme in urban areas.

Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretary Vikas Raj, HMDA Commissioner Chiranjeevulu and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
