It’s a Conglomeration of parties, not front

​Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday made some more progress in his efforts to evolve a coalition of political parties to act as an alternative to the BJP and the Congress by spending quality time with Samajwadi Party president and former chief minister of UP Akhilesh Yadav.

Lately, KCR has been meeting leaders who shared his concern for an action plan for the nation and for formation of a central coalition of parties that could implement it for the benefit of people at large.

The Chief Minister, after the meeting with Akhilesh, made it clear that they were not looking for formation of a front as such but only were trying to bring together the parties that have a common vision for a radical change in policy and administration.

"My aim is not to cobble up a coalition to make someone the prime minister. My effort is apolitical and my intention is to get on one side the parties that share my desire for a better and powerful nation," he said.

Though KCR did not react to a reporter's question whether Congress would be in or out in the coalition that they were evolving, Akhilesh Yadav, however, said that it was not proper to raise the question, as, at present the effort is to mobilise support for an anti-BJP formation in the interest of the nation.

By saying so, he implied that he was not against Congress, but this may have embarrassed KCR as in Telangana Congress happens to be his rival.Akhilesh's prevarication on the question of whether the Congress would be in or out is on account of his compulsion not to hurt Congress president Rahul Gandhi with whom he has a good rapport. He even differed with his father Mulayam on this count.

KCR, when he met DMK leader MK Stalin in Chennai a few days, left the door open when reporters asked him whether the Congress would find a place in the coalition by saying that he could not rule out anything at this stage though he knew well that the Congress would be an odd man out in his scheme of things.

On Wednesday, the SP leader, however, said that the only force which can give strong fight to the BJP will be a conglomeration of regional parties. The ruling BJP made several promises before coming to power and it has completed four years in office, but majority of the promises remain unfulfilled. The hope of fulfillment of the leftover promises is ruled out as the elections are just a year away.

The TRS chief said that his initiative to meet all regional party leaders in the country is not part of combining or uniting political forces for elections. He was holding detailed discussions with the leaders only to forge ahead and bring qualitative change in the governance and people’s lives.

The conglomeration of the regional forces is only an attempt to give a new direction to the country towards fulfilling the aspirations of people and not to create any platform for political parties for power, he added.
