​Hyderabad: Steps for the establishment of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Telangana have gained momentum with the Centre constituting a five-member panel to look into the issue on Monday.

The members of the panel are: Sunil Varma (joint secretary, Pradhan Manthri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana), Sachin Mittal (director, Pradhan Manthri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana), Dr DK Sharma (medical superintendent, AIIMS-Delhi), GP Srivastava (superintendent engineers, AIIMS-Rai Bareli) and Mukesh Vajapayee (senior architect, Ministry of Health, GoI).

A communication to this effect was given to the Telangana government. The Central delegation would visit the state to inspect sites proposed by the government soon. Health Minister C Laxma Reddy said recently that they are scouting for different locations and once this was done the same would be communicated to the Union Health Ministry. The final call on location would be taken by the Centre, he stressed.
