Hyderabad: Bhongir MP B Narsaiah Goud on Monday said the Centre had allocated All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to Telangana because of the efforts put forth by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders.
Addressing a press conference here, Narsaiah Goud said that he had personally written to the Centre 20 times requesting for the sanction of AIIMS. He recalled that during 2014, when Harshvardhan was Union Health Minister, the TRS party gave a memorandum requesting for the sanction of AIIMS. He alleged that the Centre had earlier deprived Telangana and sanctioned premier health institute to Andhra Pradesh.
The MP said that the Centre had formed a committee to examine the spot earmarked by the State government for setting up of the institute. The State government had earmarked Bibinagar NIMS for setting up of AIIMS. The Central government committee would be visiting the State to inspect the site at Bibinagar and would give a report, he added. He said that the site had good access to national highway roads and the soil reports were all sent to the Centre in 2015.
Goud said the Centre had recently given all clearances for setting up of AIIMS and added that works would be starting soon. The formation of a committee by the Centre to inspect the location is a way forward to the project, he said.
The MP lashed out at the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) stating that the rules of the board were like having authority over Telangana. It is the double standard of the Central government to have one rule for entire country and one rule for the two Telugu States. He alleged that the KRMB had excluded Karnataka and Maharashtra and was imposing its dictate only on Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He said that the party would oppose the Centre’s move to include Telugu States into KRMB.
