Hyderabad: The recognised union of TSRTC Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU) on Monday gave strike notice to the management stating that they would go on strike any time after May 21 if their demands were not met.

The TMU leaders gave strike notice to the RTC management on Monday after a dharna demanding pay revision, which has been pending for the last one year. TMU general secretary E Ashwathama Reddy said that the dharna was only a sample and they would intensify their agitation if the management failed to address their demand.

Ashwathama Reddy said the leaders who were enjoying the post of Ministers was because of the efforts of the RTC workers, who actively participated in the Telangana agitation. “We are not dependent on your mercy. We need you and in the same way you need us. We will not tolerate if workers are harassed for petty issues,” said Ashwathama Reddy.

The TMU leader said if the depots were in losses, the managers should be given memos and if the zones were under losses, the executive directors should be served memos. If the management was ready to do this, the workers were ready to take memos, he said adding that they did not need the director’s post.

Stating that the private bus operators were eating away the revenue of the corporation, Ashwathama Reddy said there was no one in the management to stop illegal operations by private buses. He questioned the government on financial assistance from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as promised by the government.

He said there was no job security for the workers in RTC. He called upon the other unions to join them for solving the issues of the corporation.
