He was speaking after flagging off 145 new ambulances at a programme held at Nizam College ground on Tuesday.

He said that 108 ambulances are equipped with advanced life support systems to offer timely treatment and first-aid to accident victims while taking them to hospitals.

Laxma Reddy said that ANMs in villages are being given two-wheelers, so that they can commute easily while on work. He stated that free hearse service to transport dead bodies has 50 vehicles already and another 50 vehicles would be inducted soon.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy also took part and spoke about various health initiatives undertaken by the State government in last four years.

Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya said that 108 ambulances were helping accident victims, pregnant women to reach hospital in time for treatment. CPO Srinivas Raju, GVK EMRI CEO P Brahmanda Rao, Vice-president TVSK Reddy and other staff took part.

The 108 emergency services in Telangana has 316 ambulances out of which 145 are old vehicles that travelled more than 4.5 lakh km were replaced with new ones. Last year, a total of 145 new vehicles were inducted.
