Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has predicted that the main Opposition Congress will forfeit deposits in 85 out of the 119 assembly constituencies in 2019 elections in the state. Addressing a public meeting in Medak on Wednesday, the Chief Minister criticised the Congress saying that the main Opposition party was politicizing the unique welfare and developmental programmes taken up by his government.

He predicted the Congress will bite the dust in 85 assembly constituencies. The Opposition parties are trying to malign the image of new state of Telangana by spreading canards against his government, KCR said and claimed that Telangana stood number one in the implementation of several welfare schemes mainly Kalyana Lakshmi, KCR KITs and the establishment of residential educational institutions for the BC, SC, ST and Minority communities.

Creation of strong infrastructure for safe drinking water supply under Mission Bhagiratha, revival of water bodies under Mission Kakatiya, construction of irrigation projects and setting up of power plants pushed Telangana to top position in the improvement of infrastructure in the country, KCR said and pointed out that the measures taken by his government also helped increase revenue generation more than 20 per cent every year.

The TRS supremo said the Opposition party realised that the people are rallying behind his party in the next elections. The Opposition party’s allegation was only an attempt to bring a disrepute to the state. People will give a befitting lesson to the Congress in the next elections, he added. He also sought people’s support in extending his services to the country by foraying into national politics in the coming days. Earlier, KCR inaugurated Medak District Collectorate and SP office buildings. Deputy Speaker Padma Devendar Reddy and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao were present.
