Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said the love being shown by the Chief Minister towards farmers was not a real one as he did not console at least one family of farmers who had committed suicides.

Addressing a meeting, where Telugu Desam Party leader N Venkatesh joined the Congress, he said due to the delay in crop loan waiver and debts, several farmers had committed suicides. He alleged that the Chief Minister did not take care of the farmers in the past four years.

Though the government in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh had given minimum support price to chilli crop, Telangana failed to do so. Even Rs 10 was not spent to purchase farm products, he said and demanded that the Chief Minister give answer to the question of people why the State had failed to provide MSP to farm products before fighting with the Centre on the issue.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said the entire State would come together to chase Chandrashekar Rao away from the State. The Congress would win all the 14 Assembly constituencies of the old Mahbubnagar district.

Coming down heavily on the Chief Minister, Uttam Kumar Reddy said cheating the people of Telangana had become a habit of Chandrashekar Rao. All sections of the State had been deceived by the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), he said adding that the Congress would utilise the services of those who joined the party and they would be given the right position.

Former Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy said the Chief Minister was in deep slumber for the past four years like Kumbhakarna. The government which failed to reimburse the interest of crops loans to farmers now came up with incentive scheme.

Jaipal Reddy made it clear that the farmers would not forget the loss they had suffered in the past four years with the Rs 4,000 per acre as crop investment. The time had come to change the government, he added.

Former Minister D K Aruna said with the joining of TDP leader Venkatesh in the Congress, the defeat of the TRS had been confirmed in Mahbubnagar. She wanted all party workers to fight for the victory of the Congress in the next elections.

Alampur MLA SA Sampath Kumar said the sitting MLA of Mahbubnagar constituency had won from there with his ill-gotten money. Former MP M Ravi said the crop incentive scheme had failed to impress the people as leaders of other parties had been joining the Congress.
