Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) members are eagerly waiting to see who will become the Campaign Committee chairman of TPCC, the post which is considered important, next to the TPCC President post. As the TPCC and various State committees of PCC would be announced in the last week of this month, the Congress leaders are keen on appointments.

Sources in the party said that the PCC committees would be announced in the last week of this month after the completion of formation of government in Karnataka. Though the PCC posts had to be announced in the last week, it was deferred due to the elections in Karnataka.

According to sources, the announcement of the committees would be delayed further due to the uncertainty in Karnataka. Party leaders said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi is likely to go on a tour to Mansarovar and the committees may be announced after his return to Delhi.

As the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy had already submitted his recommendations to the party high command for the appointments to TPCC, the party leaders are anxious to know the names. Apart from PCC office bearers, four committees would also be appointed in the State party. They include Campaign Committee, Strategy Committee, Coordination Committee and Manifesto Committee. Senior leaders would be appointed to these committees as chairmen.

The Campaign Committee chairman post is considered most important one after the PCC president in the Congress. Those who have chaired the committee have been appointed as Chief Ministers in the past.

A leader of the party said that a senior or most popular leader of the party would be appointed as Chairman of Campaign Committee and he would be responsible to lead the campaign of the party in its run to the elections. Appointment to this post is considered as an indication for party’s choice for the Chief Ministerial candidate.

The party is considering names of few important leaders of the party for the post. MLA A Revanth Reddy is in the race for the post. According to his supporters, Revanth joined the Congress on the promise that he would be made the chairman of campaign committee. Apart from Revanth, several senior leaders like Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, D K Aruna, Vijayasanthi and few others are expecting to get the post.

However, with the recent controversy on the Campaign Committee chairman post, the high command may try to avoid problems and may appoint a non -controversial person as the chairman of this committee.

Sources in the party said that the high command may chose TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy or CLP leader Jana Reddy for the post so that the appointment would not lead to group politics in the State unit.
