Hyderabad: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Friday retained all old District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents in the State except Khammam. The AICC did not take the newly-formed districts into consideration. It continued the existing presidents for nine old districts in the State.

It changed the president of Hyderabad and appointed former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav in the place of Danam Nagender. With this, questions are being raised about Nagender’s future. Party sources said the TPCC had proposed Nagender for the post of its working president. However, as Anjan Kumar is appointed as Hyderabad DCC president, Nagender’s chances to become the working president have become bleak since Anjan and Nagender belong to BC community.

Another interesting fallout of the announcement of DCCs is whether Anjan Kumar would get the ticket for Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat in the next elections. According to the AICC decision, a person who is holding a post in the party will not be given ticket for contesting to Assembly or to Lok Sabha.

If Anjan has to be given party ticket from Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, he has to resign from the post of Hyderabad DCC president’s post or the AICC should change its policy on giving tickets to those holding party posts.

According to the list being announced by the AICC, with the signature of party general secretary Ashok Gehlot, Anjan Kumar Yadav is the new president for Hyderabad City. Taher Bin Hamdan will be the president of Nizamabad DCC, Katakam Mrutyunjayam is being named for Karimnagar, Maheswar Reddy for Adilabad, Sunita Laxma Reddy for Medak, Kyama Mallesh for Ranga Reddy, Obaidulla Kotwal for Mahbubnagar and Nayani Rajender Reddy for Warangal.

The AICC has taken no decision on the president Khammam DCC. The old president of Khammam DCC A Satyam expired recently and no name has been proposed in his place. Though Congress Telangana in-charge RC Khuntia held negotiations with Khammam Congress leaders Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, Renuka Chowdary and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, he was unable to pick a leader for Khammam DCC president post.
