Hyderabad/New Delhi: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao cut short his Delhi tour and returned to Hyderabad on Monday afternoon as the CM was not given appointment to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

KCR went to the national capital on Sunday on a three-day visit to prevail upon the Prime Minister and President Ram Nath Kovind on the creation of new zones and the long-pending issue of bifurcation of the High Court and other bifurcation-related issues pending before the Centre.

The PMO (Prime Minister Office) informed KCR that Modi was busy preparing to leave on foreign tour in the next 24 hours and all the appointments given earlier were cancelled. Modi will return to India in three days. As there is no option, the TRS supremo, accompanied by the party leaders, returned to Hyderabad immediately.

Earlier, the Chief Minister called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a memorandum requesting him to consider the reorganisation of the zonal system in Telangana.

In the meeting, KCR explained to the Union minister that under Section 97 of the AP Reorganization Act, 2014, Article 371-D had been continued in Telangana which was wrong.

Telangana was left with only two zones - V and VI of the erstwhile United AP – and the rest had gone to the residuary state of AP.

KCR told Rajnath that Telangana districts had been reorganized by creating 31 districts and the administration needed to be overhauled appropriately. Hence, he said, a Presidential order was required to amend the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment Organization of Local Cadres and Direct Recruitment Order, 1975 as required by the state and sought his cooperation in securing the same.

Considering the Centre’s nod to the new zonal system is crucial to issue notifications for the government jobs, sources said that KCR is likely to go to Delhi again in June after Telangana Formation Day celebrations in the state on June 2.
