PJTSAU enters into MoU with NRSC

​Hyderabad: Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) decided to establish Geographic Information System (GIS) and remote sensing centre in the Water Technology Centre of the University with technological cooperation from the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC). PJTSAU Vice Chancellor Dr V Praveen Rao on Thursday said that the university entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to utilise remote sensing technology in agriculture.

He said that Geographic Information System (GIS) will help in planning, estimating land moisture and preparing crop patterns. That apart, this will also help the agriculture students of the university to get acquainted with new technology. Besides, the students could take part in the projects of the NRSC to get real-time experience in using new technology in agriculture. He requested the NRSC Director Dr Santhanu Chowdary to provide training to create awareness on the new technology to the selected teaching faculty of the university.

For this, the University is prepared to provide necessary funding and facilities to establish the remote sensing centre, he added. Responding positively, Santhanu Chowdary assured to extend full cooperation with the university. He directed the scientists of the NRSC to prepare action plans along with the scientists of the agriculture university. NRSC scientists Dr T Ravisankar, Dr C S Murthy and other senior officials from the university were present.
