Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will announce a permanent roadmap for farmers’ welfare and strengthen the agriculture sector further at a major conference involving more than 3,000 officials of the Agriculture department to be organized on June 4 in Hyderabad.

The meeting will also be attended by the representatives of Telangana Rythu Samanvaya Samithi, the nodal agency to oversee the farming activities in the state. The Chief Minister instructed all officials from the rank of mandal-level Agricultural Extension Officers (AEO) to district and state-level officials.

In the meeting, the CM and officials will discuss extensively the hurdles encountered in the implementation of Rythu Bandhu scheme under which cheques were distributed to more than 58 lakh farmers and prepare a permanent mechanism for the scheme. KCR will seek feedback from the officials the utilisation of money given to the farmers under the crop investment support scheme. The issue of whether farmers spend the money on farming activity in the ensuing kharif season will be analysed thoroughly at the meeting.

All the mandal and district-level officials were asked to submit reports on the status of Rythu Bandhu in their respective jurisdictions. The Chief Minister will also seek suggestions to finalise modalities for the proposed insurance scheme meant for the whole farming community. The scheme will come into effect from August 15.
Based on the outcome of the meeting, officials said the Chief Minister will finalise a roadmap in the meeting to strengthen the agriculture sector and make farming a profitable profession.

Creation of crop colonies, establishment of advanced soil testing centers, godown and cold storage facilities, adoption of new farm techniques, ensuring remunerative price and marketing network will be among the important issues to be included on the agenda at the daylong meeting to be held at the HICC in Hyderabad. KCR is also likely to announce incentive of one-month basic salary as bonus to all Agriculture department staff for making successful the implementation of Rythu Bandhu scheme in the meeting.
