Scoring the highest marks in NEET 2018 with an incredible 99.9999 percentile, Bihar girl Kalpana Kumari has bagged the All India Rank 1 in CBSE’s NEET medical entrance exam. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 on its official website on Monday.
New Delhi/ Hyderabad: Scoring the highest marks in NEET 2018 with an incredible 99.9999 percentile, Bihar girl Kalpana Kumari has bagged the All India Rank 1 in CBSE’s NEET medical entrance exam. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced the results of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 on its official website on Monday.
The exam was held on May 6 in over 130 cities at 2255 exam centres. While the results were to be out on June 5 according to the official schedule, they have been released a day earlier than expected.
Kalpana’s overall score is 691 out of 720, under which she obtained 171 out of 180 in physics, 160 out of 180 in Chemistry, 360 out of 360 in Biology (Botany and Zoology). Close behind Kalpana is Rohan Purohit from Telangana (99.9997) and Himanshu Sharma from Delhi, both of whom scored 690 marks. Apart from the second rank, Siddharth Ravi from Telangana bagged the 25th rank.
Among the top 50 ranks, students from AP are A Anirudh Babu (8th rank), O V Sai Harshavardhan Reddy (14th rank), Menda Jaideep (16th rank), Koduru Sriharsha (19th rank) and Varada Ravikiran (36th rank). Interestingly, the cut-offs are lower than last year For the general (unreserved) category, the cut off is 119 marks. Last year it was 131 out of 720.
The cut off for SC, ST and OBC candidates is 96, as compared to last year’s 107. For candidates with disabilities in the general category, the cut-off is 107-118 while for candidates with disabilities in the SC, ST and OBC categories, the cut-off is 96-106.
From Telangana 30,912 candidates have been qualified out of 44,877 appeared in the examination. Similarly, from Andhra Pradesh, out of 49,253 appeared 35,732 candidates were qualified. Director (NEET) Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj said that the qualified candidates have to further complete the formalities with the respective Counselling Authorities viz DGHS, Medical Education Directorates of States, etc for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
From June 12, candidates who have qualified the examination will be allowed to participate in NEET counselling for both All India Quota Seats (15% seats) conducted by Medical Council of India (MCI) as well as state-level counselling conducted by individual state authorities for the rest 85% seats.
