​Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Friday stated that Telangana was the lone State in the country after the Centre that has earmarked largest chunk of funds for the welfare of minorities. Participating in ‘Dawat- e- Iftar’, the Chief Minister said that his government had allocated Rs 2,000 crore budget outlay for the welfare of minorities in 2018-19 financial year. The total allocation for minorities by the Centre was Rs 4,000 crore. “Minorities are given priority on par with SCs and STs in the State budget outlay,” the Chief Minister said.

Stating that Telangana would witness a revolution in the development of minorities in education and employment sectors after 12 years, the CM said that a State-owned guest house in Ajmer would be constructed soon as the Rajasthan government had allotted an acre of land. Rs 5 crore was also sanctioned for the purpose, KCR said, adding that a special train will also be arranged for guests to attend the foundation stone ceremony soon.

KCR said that 10 acres was allotted to the Minority Welfare Department for the construction of Islamic centre in Hyderabad. Deputy CM Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, MP Asaduddin Owaisi, DGP M Mahender Reddy and others attended the Iftar party.
