IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Saturday launched the Telangana Diagnostics in Hyderabad.

Speaking after launching the programme, he said there is a need for the government to instil confidence among people over government hospitals.

Appreciating the Health Department for providing quality services, KTR requested Health Minister Laxma Reddy to review the progress of filling vacancies in the department.

KTR said the government has introduced Basthi Hospitals in order to provide treatment to town-dwellers in their localities.

On Telangana Diagnostics, he stated that diagnostics has become a headache to the people, hence the state government has set up its own exclusive diagnostic centre where tests including those for dengue, malaria, typhoid, sugar, blood, x-ray and scanning would be conducted free of cost. The free tests, however, would be applicable only for samples sent by primary health centres, community health centres and government hospitals located in the district.

The Minister said, "The goal of the state government is to provide better medicine for the poor. In the medical system, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has revolutionized the changes. 40 Dialysis Centers have been established across the state."

The government is planning to establish 20 diagnostic centres in 20 districts as a part of the first phase.
